This season, Team Iron Swords takes to the ice with a deeper purpose, skating not just for victory, but in honor of a man whose life was the definition of strength, integrity, and unwavering love, My dear cousin, Danny Azoulay.
Danny was the kind of person who made us all want to be better. A devoted husband to Randi, and a loving father to Yosef, Meira, Yaeli, and Yaacov, and a steadfast friend to so many, he lived with a quiet but unshakable commitment to doing the right thing. Not because it was easy, not because it was expected, but because it was who he was.
If you were lucky enough to know Danny, you know that he didn't just live, he led. With kindness. With faith. With an unbreakable spirit. Whether in his unwavering emunah, his boundless chessed, or simply the way he made time for the people he loved, Danny's presence was a light in our lives. And though he is no longer with us in body, his influence will forever be in our hearts.
This year, every shift, every pass, and every goal is for him. Danny, we dedicate this season to you. May we carry your name with pride, may we fight as fiercely as you did for the people you loved, and may we make you proud on and off the ice.
May your neshama have an aliyah, and may your memory forever be a blessing.
On May 4 & 5 I will be facing off against cancer as I play in the annual RCCS Hockey Classic, benefiting the families and patients of RCCS.
The mission of RCCS is to tackle cancer challenges, ease medical treatment, cover insurance premiums to lighten the financial burden, and make cancer care more accessible. Without this great organization, 5,194 patients would stare death in the face with little chance of recovery and survival. RCCS stands by each individual throughout every step of the process, holding their hands along the way to help them fight and win the war against cancer.
